Raveonettes: NEW Album Details
Due for release towards the end of the year on an as-yet-unspecified label, the band have settled on 12 tracks and have selected the final title of 'Lust, Lust, Lust', which has been inspired by the lyrical content of many of the songs.
"There are a lot of songs that deal with desire, restlessness and the tough choices you have to make sometimes," explained frontman Sune Rose Wagner, who, along with bandmate Sharin Foo, has just completed mixing duties in New York. "Lust and forbidden desires are definitely the main themes of the record and most of it comes from a personal perspective."

The album was self-recorded, self-produced and the final tracks were culled from a selection of over 100 that Wagner had demoed during the past two years. Of the songs standouts included the distinctly surf-influenced number 'Dead Sound' and a bubblegum-pop smash in the making called 'You Want The Candy'.
However the duo have clearly given the new material a much darker edge overall, particularly in the shape of the discordantly melodic band favourite 'Expelled From Love' and 'Aly Walk With Me' which is comprised of a hypnotic hip-hop groove and dynamic quiet/loud guitar shifts.
"We didn't want that flimsy sound we had on the 'Pretty In Black' album (which came out in 2005) anymore," continued Wagner. "It's a grittier, tougher and much more powerful record - one that I think is perfect for doing a massive amount of drugs to in some underground Berlin club!"
Track names for, 'Lust, Lust, Lust' are:
'Blitzed'
'You Want The Candy'
'Hallucinations'
'Blush'
'Black Satin'
'Expelled From Love'
'Dead Sound'
'The Beat Dies'
'Honey I Never Had You'
'Aly, Walk With Me'
'Lust'
'With My Eyes Closed'

Ryan Adams: Wilshire Theatre 7/19/07 (Live Review)
So the acoustic show came to the Wilshire theatre last night. Six man band with pedal steel, and an upright piano. The Wilshire was the perfect setting for a show like this. Very quiet crowd, that seemed to know it was seeing something very special.
At one point Ryan says, "I'd like to send this one out to my buddy Glenn Danzig. Hes goin through a really dark period in his life. Cheer up Glenn, we love ya buddy."
Setlist went somethin like this:
please do not let me go
blue sky, blues
oh my god, whatever, etc.
the sun also sets
blue hotel
dear chicago
let it ride
elizabeth, you were born to play the part
two
off broadway
dear john
nightbirds
i taught myself how to grow old
starlite diner
cold roses
wildflowers
peaceful valley
goodnight rose
this is it
goodnight hollywood blvd.
Encore:
how do you keep love alive?
games
a kiss before i go
magnolia mountain.
One of the best played acoustic type shows Ive ever been to. Everything was perfect soundwise. Through a two hour show I never once had the thought "man I wish I could hear the _______ better". The harmonies this band was throwin around were sick, four part, gospel sounding shit. Neal Casal is the perfect guy for this band. He knows what NOT to play, and thats hard to find nowadays. Plus, his voice in the middle of the harmonies sounded great.
I know the guys hit and miss in these parts, but Im not sure theres a better singer/songwriter under fifty on the planet. Sure, hes written more than his share of depressed/heartache songs, and that gets old at times, but the new record actually has an upbeat feel to it, and those songs breathed freshness into the set. Rumor is he'll be back in the fall with amps on the stage this time around, and Ill be there for that as well. Im just really glad I was able to hear these songs, in this setting, with a respectful crowd giving the music the ability to be dynamic. The way acoustic music should be. Good on Ryan for havin the nuts to tour like this, and for keeping a band together for over a year now. Hopefully hes settled into life.

Paul Chesne: Wet Dog Man
Paul’s a singer song writer in the vein of Gram Parsons, Early Wilco era Jeff Tweedy, & Exile On Main Street era Rolling Stones. Singin’, dancing’, down on his knees, screamin’ to some empty bottle or some woman.
His backing band is solid, to say the least. Dutch (Lead Guitar), Steve Tegel (bass), & Johnny Niemann (keys), & Paxton (drums). Three of the Four are from LA favorites The Vacation.
Paul is playing in Los Angeles on Saturday July 28th. @ Safari Sam's with Mike Stinson & Dale Watson.
His Album is available on itunes

The 10 essential Brian Jonestown Massacre Songs
Posted by The American Underground at 2:57 PM 0 comments
Darker My Love (In The Studio)
Right now they are locked up in a little room in Los Angeles writing songs for their new record. The follow up to their wonderfully psychedelic debut. The band says they have "a boat load" of new songs they are in pre-production on, and "writing more for the sake of the drill." They are playing two local shows in Los Angeles (July 29th @ The ExPlex And August 26th @ The Fuck Yeah Fest)
Check out their self titled debut record: DML-http://www.amazon.com/Darker-My-Love/dp/B000GIXELS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7012359-2700063?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1184617958&sr=8-1
