Ferraby Lionheart: Explores "Vermont"

In terms of airy, joyous folk rock that plucks softly at your heartstrings, you can't go wrong with Ferraby Lionheart. A Los Angeles native via Nashville (but don't hold that against him), Lionheart dons the melodic troubadour straw hat and Jon Brion-esque vocals, aching with quiet divulgence. "Vermont Avenue" strays down open patchworks of cooing violins, intimately picked acoustic guitar and just enough piano to let tears stream down your cheeks. "If we get the money / we might buy their sorrow," Lionheart whispers in a breathy tenor that ignites wisps of faint bells. Its music that translates well to staring up at puffy clouds, far away stars or city skylights -- as long as you can catch your breath. Catch the Brass Ring drops Sept. 4 via the Nettwerk label.

My Bloody Valentine: To Play Coachella '08?

First it was the Pixies, and soon scores of others followed in suit; Gang of Four, Rage Against the Machine, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, among others -- It seems a headlining gig at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival is par for the course for a reuniting rock outfit. And today, speculation has arisen stating shoegaze pioneers My Bloody Valentine will be next act to reunite and grace the stage at 2008's Coachella installment. According to thedailyswarm.com, which cites "sources in the United States and the United Kingdom who are familiar with the negotiations," My Bloody Valentine, the defunct, seminal Ireland-based outfit fronted by Kevin Shields and responsible for genre-defining opus Loveless, is near signing a deal to reunite and hit the stage at Coachella, as well as others worldwide on a extensive reunion tour. One query of note: how much money is on the table? While Moz won't budge for $75 million, rumors claim the Pixies and Rage Against the Machine both dipped well into seven figure paychecks. A festival spokesperson claimed to have "no information whatsoever.

Darker My Love

Trent Reznor: Slams The Smashing Pumpkins

Bands come face to face at Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has slammed Smashing Pumpkins' comeback - just before the bands share a bill at The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals.

Reznor's outfit are second on the bill to the grunge titans in Leeds tonight (August 24) and in Reading on Sunday (26).

The Pumpkins headlined the bash back in 1995, at the height of their commercial success. Frontman Billy Corgan split the band in 2000, but they reconvened last year and released a new album, 'Zeitgeist', in July. However, along with Corgan, the only other previous member of the group who remains is drummer Jimmy Chamberlain.

Reznor says: "I was never a big Smashing Pumpkins fan back when they were the Pumpkins, not to shit on Billy (Corgan) or anything but I don't hear anything that would make me want to care.

"I think trying to resurrect the name Smashing Pumpkins .........its all a bit corporate for me."
And Reznor admitted he wasn't overly impressed with the line-up on the day his band are playing, though he did have positive comments to make about the festival in general.
He commented: "I heard the line up for another day and that sounded a lot better than the line up on the day we are playing, so I doubt you will see me on the side of the stage for Fall Out Boy!"
He added: "But it's (Carling Weekend) always seemed the crème de la crème of festivals. This is the definitely the highlight of our tour when it comes up."

Daft Punk: Unveil Live Album Details (Exclusive)

Can't get enough of Daft Punk's earth shakin', booty rockin' live performance? Well, if so, you're in luck, for the pyramid scheming French duo -- Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo -- have announced the release of Daft Punk Alive 2007, a two-disc set documenting the electro-house outfit's first hometown show in ten years, set to drop stateside Nov. 20. The live release, filmed at Paris' Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy June 14, 2007, will also arrive with a 50-page digi-book showcasing photographs shot while on tour. In addition, the record's first single, a live version of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," will be supplemented with a music video directed by Olivier Gondry (brother of Michel Gondry) that includes live footage shot by fans.

Joy Division: Documetary

Joy Division are to feature in a big screen documentary as well as the upcoming biopic "Control", it has been announced.
The seminal Manchester band are the focus for a new movie directed by Anton Corbijn, which follows the life and death of singer Ian Curtis.
Their career will also be detailed in "Joy Division", which premieres at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival next month.
Co-written and directed by Grant Gee, who has previously worked with Radiohead, the documentary will also feature members of New Order and the late Tony Wilson.

Meanwhile, plans to re-release the landmark Joy Division track "Love Will Tear Us Apart" to coincide with the current activity around the band have also been revealed.

It will come out on September 24, while "Control" is due to hit cinemas worldwide on October 5.
